Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB)

On average, $4.65 billion in contracts is awarded to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) each year. An SDVOSB is characterized as a company that is owned by one or more Veterans who were injured or disabled during military service. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) requires four conditions for verification:

Be classified as a small business by the SBA
Be at least 51% owned by one or more service-disabled veterans who control daily operations
The SDV must hold the highest officer position in the company
The company must be assigned NAICS codes that define its industry classification

The SDVOSB Procurement Program was created to allow contracting officers to award companies such as Xzelant Logistics “sole-source” or “set-aside” contracts. This reduces competition and increases opportunities for Veteran-owned companies.
